Recycling Advocates Programs Eco-Parties: Would you like to reduce the waste your family creates? Are you committed to wise energy use? Are you open to new ways of saving water? Do you have a concern about hazardous products? Share your values with friends and family by inviting 7 to 12 of them to an Eco-Party at your home. A trained volunteer will focus on ways to make your home more eco-efficient. Learn how to: set up an efficient home recycling system; choose effective alternatives to hazardous products; make composting work for you; and test your showerhead to see if it meets low-flow standards. We guarantee that everyone will learn something new and leave feeling good about making positive changes. You'll also have fun because you're doing it together! To schedule an Eco-Party, call 503-244-0026. Eco-Parties are sponsored by Recycling Advocates and the Northwest Earth Institute. Speaker's Bureau: RA can provide a speaker for your gathering or community event. We cover topics such as alternatives to household hazardous waste, product stewardship, the three "R's", event recycling, and more. For more information, contact RA at info@recyclingadvocates.org or 503-777-0909. Extended Product Responsibility/Product Stewardship:
Recycling and Waste Prevention at Events: The 2005 edition of this guide to recycling at events large and small was made possible with our collaborating partners, Metro and Portland's Office of Sustainable Development. Topics covered include establishing goals; dealing with food, vendors, and volunteers; site logistics; set-up; publicity and, of course, recycling. The guide also contains an updated and expanded list of resources for event planners. Download PDF version. To order a print copy of the guide, please contact RA at info@recyclingadvocates.org or 503-777-0909 (free within Metro region; others pay $3 to cover printing and postage). Composting: Read our vermicomposting brochure to learn how to make and maintain a worm bin. |
