Education and Outreach

Recycling Advocates has been there since the beginning.  Many of our board members have decades of experience in Oregon's recycling efforts.  We want to keep you in the know about important recycling and solid waste issues, volunteer opportunities, and what you can do to set a good example in your own home, workplace or event.

Recycling Advocates in the Community
We're here as a resource.  We get into the community and share what we know.  We give presentations and interviews and participate on panels.  We prepare policy statements; our goal is to provide well-researched analysis, to help insure that citizens' views are expressed and that policy decisions are based on all the facts.  Contact us if you need a speaker, panelist, or policy statement.

The Master Recycler Program
The Master Recyclers Program is an eight-week course designed to educate it students about waste prevention and recycling.  Those completing the course become Master Recyclers.  After completing the course, the Master Recyclers share what they have learned with their neighbors; for Portlanders, in Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington counties, to educate them.  After 100 hours of community service, Master Recyclers become certified.

RA has been involved in the Program from its inception.  RA Board members make presentations to Master Recycler classes, serve on the Program's Advisory Committee, provide volunteer opportunities, and mentor Master Recyclers.  All Master Recyclers Program graduates receive a complimentary one-year membership in Recycling Advocates.
