2010 AOR Conference Scholarship
Recycling Advocates is offering conference scholarships to 10 lucky up-and-coming recyclers and activists to attend the Association of Oregon Recyclers annual conference in Salem June 17-19, 2010.Recycling Advocates has had a long history of working with the Master Recycler program. These scholarships are one of Recycling Advocates’ efforts to motivate Master Recyclers and other newcomers to take their participation and awareness about recycling issues to the next level. Association of Oregon Recyclers hosts Oregon’s premier solid waste conference, attracting noted speakers and key players to discuss the nuts and bolts of successful recycling programs, upcoming policy issues and trends in the solid waste field. The conference is a great opportunity for newcomers to both learn a lot and also do some networking, as it attracts hundreds of industry, government and political representatives and offers several fun social networking events. To learn more about the conference schedule, visit Association of Oregon Recyclers’ web site (www.aorr.org).To qualify for the scholarship, which pays for your registration to the AOR conference, RA asks that you agree to volunteer for 10 hours on an RA project, or one of your choosing, such as writing a newsletter article or adding content to our web site. This scholarship program is primarily targeted towards current Master Recyclers or people who have completed the Master Recycler classroom program. Our goal is to help motivate you to complete your MR certification process or add to your number of pay-back hours. The intent is that the volunteer pay-back hours for RA’s projects will qualify for MR pay-back hours. (If you are not involved with the MR program, you are still eligible.) Applications must be submitted by June 4, 2010, but we encourage you to apply TODAY! Scholarship winners will be notified promptly via e-mail and will then be asked to complete an AOR conference registration form at that time. Please do not submit a registration form directly to AOR if you wish to receive the scholarship. The scholarship covers full registration only.
